Summary

After finishing my Bachelor and Master studies in the field of philosophy, I enrolled as a student both at the Ph.D. program of “Philosophy, Science and Values” (University of Basque Country) and Science, Technology and Innovation Master’s program (University of Salamanca) as a way to keep developing my thoughts about medicine and its philosophical problems and starting my research career.

In my Ph.D. project, I address the reductionism assumptions that modern medicine faces in its search for better medical practice. I will explore the different options that medicine has for improving explanations and treatment. Using chronic illness as a case study, I will argue that an organizational account of living systems is the option that best fits the pragmatic needs of medicine.
